WARPLANES WINDOWS: INSTALLATION
Warplanes will run directly off CD-ROM, however performance will
be considerably enhanced if the application is copied onto hard
disc (it occupies less than 1 megabyte).
Warplanes may be installed simply by clicking on the Install.exe
file in the File Manager display.
Alternatively, to install Warplanes using the Program manager,
open the Program Manager window, click File to display the File
menu, and then click Run. In the Command Line box, type the drive
letter for your CD-ROM drive, a colon, a backslash, and the word
INSTALL (for example, type d:\install). Click OK or press enter.
Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
Warplanes uses Apple's QuickTime technology to display pictures
and video. There are some incompatibilities with certain
graphics cards. It is essential to use the latest drivers for
graphics cards. Incompatibilities may occur if you use generic
Windows video drivers instead of the specific driver for your
graphics card.
Warplanes will use the QuickTime files in the QTWIN directory on
the CD-ROM. Optionally you can click a button in the installer
to copy the sub-directory QTWIN from the CD-ROM into the
Warplanes directory on your hard disc. This may improve the
performance of QuickTime routines. QuickTime 1.1.1 for Windows
is the latest version at the time of writing.
When a flight simulator is selected, from either the Navigator
screen or from their respective hot spots on the airfields,
there is a delay while the flight simulator is loaded.
Quitting the flight simulator by means of the escape key returns
you to Warplanes.
Warplanes requires a display adaptor set to 256 colors.
